Friends of Dubrovnik Antiques opened exhibition ‘Christmas in Dubrovnik’, with the theme ‘Let’s go to Bethlehems’ on Monday, December 26th in the Siroka street.

Exhibition presents nativity scenes from Franciscan Church and Church of Mercy at Pile, where people from Dubrovnik used to come every year because they were the most beautiful in town. 

The light of Bethlehem has inspired Dubrovnik ceramicist, artist Lucija Perojevic, whose nativity scene is exposed in the window display area in the Siroka street and is available to view even after working hours or more precisely after 3 pm
The exhibition was prepared by Maja Nodari and Ljubo Gamulin and will remain opened until 10 January 2017.

On the 25th and 26th of January 2017 the Zagreb Arena will host the Moscow Circus on Ice, the only circus of this kind in the world.

The Moscow Circus on Ice or the so-called Russian version of the Cirque du Soleil will perform before the Croatian public with a unique combination of a traditional circus and modern acrobatics on ice.
With spectacular costumes, dynamic and breathtaking stunts on ice, clowns and jugglers this fantastic group will present the ultimate extravagance and authentic circus art.

The Moscow Circus on Ice was founded by a Soviet era director A.G.Arnold in 1964. In its 52 years of work the circus has performed in 50 countries around the globe and more than 200 million spectators have viewed the show.

Popular ferry that runs down the lenght of Croatian coast – from Rijeka to Dubrovnik, will be back in 2017 – reports Croatia Week.

It's the ferry that has a route: Rijeka – Split – Stari Grad (Hvar) – Korčula – Sobra (Mljet) – Dubrovnik.
It starts in the port of Rijeka, placed in the nothern Adriatic, continues to Split and then hits the islands – Hvar, Korcula and Mljet, before it reaches Dubrovnik.

Jadrolinija cancelled this route in 2015 due to financial reasons, but after a decision from government last week, this state owned ferry company announced its comeback.

While in the past 10 years Croatia had a wave of a large infrastructure investment in new roads, mostly highway, this time is marked by large investments in airports. Almost five billion kuna will be invested in three biggest airports in Croatia – writes Poslovni.hr

One of them is Dubrovnik Airport. Each of them has the specific model and they are all in various stages in development – some are near completion while others are still in the phase of making project documentation and closing financial construction. For example, the new passenger terminal at ZagrebAirport is being built by the concession mode and is funded by a loan.

Investments in Dubrovnik Airport will be mostly financed from EU funds, while the Split Airport in financing their investments mostly on their own resources.

The most significant, with almost half of the total amount of five billion, is definitely an investment in a new airport in Zagreb that should open its doors in March with the name of the first Croatian president Franjo Tudjman.

Christmas weekend brought great increase in number of arrivals and overnight stays in Dubrovnik. According to reports from the system E-visitor on Christmas Eve in our city there were 1,389 arrivals, an increase of three times. There were also 1948 overnight stays, an increase of two times. Most of the guests who spent the Christmas weekend in Dubrovnik were from Albania, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Korea, Croatia, UK, USA, Japan ...

From the start of the year to Christmas Eve there was 1,005,873 arrivals, an increase of 12 percent, and 3,463,535 overnight stays or thirteen percent increase. On the top list of tourists that visited Dubrovnik there are United Kingdom, Germany, USA, France, Croatia, Spain, Sweden, Finland, Australia, Italy...

A rich holiday program, beautiful winter weather and the beauty of our city have contributed to these achievements of tourist traffic, and for the upcoming feast of the New Year great numbers are also expected. To recall, last year in Dubrovnik for New Year's Eve stayed less than five thousand guests, while for the last weekend of 2016 is expected an increase of five percent.

Traditionally, Santa Clauses on motorbikes came to Stradun with a lot of candy! Moto club Libertas Riders organizes this event every year and like always friends from moto club Dvije rote from Konavle, Nomadi from Zupa and other bikers have joined this cheerful crew. Many children came to see and sit on bikes, take the candy and also have a photo memory with at least one Santa Claus.

Traditional Christmas concert 'Veselje ti navjescujem' that's been held continuously since 1991, is organized this year at the same place and same time like every year: 27th of December, 8 pm, Franciscan Church.

Participants are Dubrovnik Symphony Orchestra, the Libertas Choir, Chamber Choir, Cathedral madrigalists, Atlant choir and soprano Paulina Dapo. Performances of traditional Christmas carols and tunes like Kyrie Eleison, Ave Maria, Joy to the world and others will be conducted by Margit Cetinic, Frano Krasovac and Viktor Lenert.

With this concert, DSO and choirs traditionally congratulate citizens Christmas and the entrance to the concert is free.

New flights will connect London and Croatia – reports Total Croatia News. Flybe, the largest independent regional airline in Europe, brings new connections with Zadar and Dubrovnik. The flights will take off from London Southend and there should be two seasonal flights a week.

One way flights have the initial prices of £49.99. Dubrovnik flights start on May 16, while Zadar flights will start 11 days later.
