According to the latest news from Viktor Lenac, the Croatian shipyard has signed a contract on a series of additional repairs on the USS Mount Whitney.

Just to remind you, last December the USS Mount Whitney, the flagship of the Sixth Fleet of the US Navy, arrived to the Viktor Lenac shipyard in Rijeka for overhaul that was supposed to be finished by July 2017. However, a number of new works has been agreed upon that will boost the shipyard’s revenues and favourably affect business results and stable employment capacity. The additional works are to be completed by mid-September this year.

The USS flagship has already visited the Croatian shipyard four times and has chosen Viktor Lenac again for another major upgrading of the warship in order to additionally modernize the ship and prolong her working life span.

The basic contract on overhauling of the American warship was worth $21 million; however, three months ago the Croatian shipyard announced that in case of activation of additional options, the total value of the project could reach almost $30 million.

Viktor Lenac is one of the leading shipyards in the Mediterranean. Founded in 1896, the shipyard has a long tradition of ship repair and conversion and was among the first in the world to introduce ship lengthening.

In 2016, the Croatian shipyard achieved 274 million Kunas in revenue and 1,45 million Kunas in profits.

One of the richest people from the Arab world has come to Croatia to find a perfect location for his new investment.

Hussain Sajwani also known as ‘’Donald of Dubai’’ in the world of business, is a self-made billionaire from the United Arab Emirates and one of real estate tycoons responsible for the glamorous image and architectural bravuras that were constructed over the past decade in the Arabian paradise for the rich, the city of Dubai.

The ambitious ''heavyweight'' and the tenth richest Arab on the Forbes World’s Billionaires list whose assets are currently estimated at $4.4 billion has come to Croatia to study the country and put the finger on the most attractive investment spot on the map. The Croatian governmental authority has decided to welcome him and let him know that he is welcome in Croatia and that the country would gladly see a piece of Dubai here.

Sajwani's specialty are shamelessly luxurious, huge hotel-residential-business projects, however, none has been realized in Europe yet. If he decides to invest in Croatia, he would not have to turn deserts into grandiose edifices or build artificial islands, thus he might be convinced that the local investment climate is not that harsh and that the country's economy will continue to grow, whilst elite tourists are waiting for the new luxury destination in Europe.

However, Sjawani's team has not revealed any details yet, just has given a hint about a potentially big investment in tourism.

Apart from investment and development projects, Sajwani also deals with hotel business (Damac Hotels & Resorts) and facility management (Luxury Facilities Management and Luxury Owner Association Management Services).

The global real estate agency Colliers International, which has been luring Sajwani to Croatia, has prepared several proposals for him.

Hussain Sajwani, the director and the owner of Damac Properties Dubai, a company that belongs to the three leading investment groups in Dubai, has not yet dropped his finger on a location on the Croatian map but his operational teams have already spied out the Adriatic, which Sajwani will be touring by himself by helicopter, starting from Dubrovnik.

The TV host of the ''Grand Tour'' TV show and the former host of ''Top Gear'' Jeremy Clarkson has blamed Croats and held them responsible for suffering of men through centuries.

In his latest column for The Times titled ''Centuries of male suffering inflicted by Croatian ragamuffins and French fops’’, Clarkson fiercely attacked the Croatian cravat or necktie as one of the worst fashion accessories for men.

Clarkson stated he did a little research and found out that the idea for a cravat appeared in the 17th century when ''some'' Croatian mercenaries arrived in France wearing knurled scarves around their necks. ''Instead of saying ''Thank God for your arrival, we need all the help we can get to fight against these nasty Protestants, the French (because they are French) said, ''Wow. Cool fashion accessory, guys'' and rushed to make something that was later called ''cravat'', wrote Clarkson.

The popular TV host also did not save words for his fellow-countrymen. Clarkson added that the cravat became popular among the young Brits who started wearing ''the idiotical supplement around the neck to look more like the French''.

Dubrovnik's tennis sensation, Ana Konjuh, Wimbledon adventure is over in the fourth round. The 19 year-old Konjuh was stopped in the fourth round of this year’s Wimbledon by the tenth seed Venus Williams. After 65 minutes on the centre court Williams won 6:3 – 6:2 and moved into the quarter finals.

Williams was on the mark from the very start of the match and with her punishing service and accurate returns broke Konjuh. However after three straight wins and her first ever appearance on the centre court of the most prized tennis finals in the world Konjuh can be more than proud of her Wimbledon achievements.

It was in many ways a match of experience over youth. Williams is 18 years older than Konjuh, she has played seven finals on the centre court and has won every major tournament the game has to offer. Konjuh is at the beginning of a bright career and the experience gained from today’s match will no doubt stand her in good stead for the future.
