Today, the 6th of January, is a national holiday throughout Croatia as the Epiphany, or Three Kings, is celebrated. Christmas trees and decorations are traditionally taken down on this day as Christian Croatians finish their festive period.
Epiphany is a Christian feast day that celebrates the revelation of God incarnate as Jesus Christ.
Today’s national holiday is celebrated exactly 12 days after Christmas Day and is one of the oldest holidays in the Christian calendar. And the special day will be marked with a Holy Mass by Pope Francis in the Vatican.
Today is also Christmas Eve for the Eastern Orthodox Church.
