Normally I don’t need much of an excuse to visit the Hilton Imperial Dubrovnik. It is the lap of luxury literally on the doorstep of the historic Old City of Dubrovnik, one of the gems of Dubrovnik’s tourism offer.

This time the reason for visiting the luxurious hotel was as part of the hotel’s rather creative Summer Promotions. Every Monday the Hilton Imperial Dubrovnik serves a themed menu in their Porat Restaurant, the Dubrovnik Republic Menu. I already love the title, or as Renee Zellweger would say “you had me at hello.”

A three-course meal in a five-star hotel with a Dubrovnik theme, the stars had aligned. We opened with a real beauty of a starter, soup from Ston oysters. Creamy and filling, yummy! I am a lover of oysters and Ston oysters are the Rolls Royce of oysters.

Themed around the meals that were served on the tables of the nobility in the times of the Dubrovnik Republic the main course is a classic. Capon stuffed with sausage and herbs and served with rosemary roasted potatoes. A real winner and a dish with a strong Dubrovnik history.

 The capon was light and full of flavour and the potatoes were fresh and crunchy and with that rosemary twist they had a summer feel. And no Dubrovnik menu would be complete without the king of Dubrovnik desserts – Rozata. Now I have to admit that I am not a great fan of Rozata, too often it’s like eating a jelly. But this one is a real winner. Light and almost fluffy, which is unusual for this Dubrovnik sweet dessert and served with St. Blaise biscuits it was probably one of the best Rozatas I had ever tried.

This Dubrovnik Republic Menu is served every Monday from 7:00pm to 10:00pm in the Porat Restaurant in Hilton Imperial Dubrovnik and at only 260.00 Kuna per person it is also great value.

It is also important to mention that all these promotional events are open to non-residents of the hotel. Yes, that’s right. You don’t have to be actually staying at the hotel to enjoy all the goodies on offer in this five-star hotel. Go on treat yourselves. Ten out of ten to the Hilton Imperial Dubrovnik for not only respecting Dubrovnik traditions but promoting them. I loved the menu!
