This October sees the second Dubrovnik Triathlon, Earth Sea & Fire, organised and supported by the team behind the Brighton and Hove Triathlon.
Dubrovnik is renowned as a famous UNESCO World Heritage Site and is one of the most attractive global travel destinations. It’s a perfect location for a triathlon with warm seas of 20 degrees and an average daily temperature of up to 21 degrees in October.
It's easy to get to with frequent flights from most major cities and was the backdrop for the iconic series Game of Thrones, James Bond and Robin Hood movies.
The organisers of the Dubrovnik Triathlon are local man Daniel Marusic, President of the Triathlon Club of Dubrovnik, and John Lunt, Race Director for Brighton and Hove Triathlon and the Competition Manager for Triathlon for the London 2012 Olympic Games.
The idea of the Dubrovnik Triathlon came about when Daniel met John in Dubrovnik. John has over 30 years’ experience organising Triathlons in the UK and overseas and loves promoting the sport and generating events.
Daniel said, “As soon as I met John, we both realised we could work well together, me with my local contacts and John with his years of experience in the Triathlon industry."
"We are very proud that the first ever Dubrovnik Triathlon saw 14 different nationalities come and race in our beautiful city. Dubrovnik is a very safe, friendly city with great weather, you will be assured a very warm welcome."
John said, "I am honoured to be the Event Director for the triathlon in the beautiful city of Dubrovnik. Dubrovnik provides an amazing location for our sport. We attract a variety of athletes from first timers looking for a destination event to those who have raced before and want to bring along their partner for a special treat."
He continued,” It is a perfect end of season treat and a fabulous location for a short break holiday.
From a business perspective, sports tourism and spend provides a welcome boost to the shoulder season.”
The event welcomes all abilities and offers three different distances; Sprint and Olympic and new for 2019, the Super Sprint. Participants can compete individually or in relay teams.

• Friday morning swim • Mayor’s reception Friday Night • Saturday 2pm Triathlon (so not an early start) • Awards Dinner and prize giving on the beach • Sunday morning relaxing 2 hour boat trip
