The European Commission President, Ursula von der Leyen, announced that the target of 70 percent of vaccinated adults in the European Union was reached on Tuesday, and called on everyone who has the opportunity to be vaccinated for their own health and the protection of others.
"Our goal in July was to protect 70 percent of adults in the European Union with at least one dose. Today, we have achieved that goal, and 57 percent of adults have been fully vaccinated,” said the President of the Commission.
Von der Leyen points out that efforts should be continued and as many people as possible vaccinated.
“The delta variant is very dangerous. I therefore call on everyone - who has the opportunity - to get vaccinated. For their own health and the protection of others,” said von der Leyen, noting that the EU will continue to provide enough vaccines.
