You’ve watched the hit serial, toured the locations, bought the T-shirt and maybe even had your photo taken on the Iron Throne, but have you tried the Game of Thrones themed lunch. At the Kopun Restaurant in the heart of the Old City of Dubrovnik you now have just that chance with their Game of Thrones Menu.

In fact this is the ultimate Game of Thrones experience. Firstly Kopun is located inside the historic Old City, famous amongst fans of the serial as the setting for King’s Landing the capital of the seven kingdoms. And secondly the restaurant is within a stone’s throw of one of the most famous scenes from the serial, the so called Walk of Shame which started on the steps leading up to the Jesuit complex. Within earshot of the people walking up these very steps the Game of Thrones lunch menu is truly authentic.
“We have used recipes from the Game of Thrones cookbook to make the experience even more realistic and have taken quotes from the serial to describe the meals,” explained the manager of Kopun, Petar Bitanga. And yes the menus certainly have a realistic feel about them. The starter, Simple Dornish Fare, is described as “a serving man brought him a bowl of purple olives with flatbread, cheese and chickpea paste. He ate a bit of it, a drunk a cup of the sweet, heavy strong wine that he loved.”
To take the lunch menu to another level the restaurant even commissioned special serving plates for all of the meals. “We had them specially made in northern Croatia, it took some time but we believe it adds to the overall Game of Thrones theme,” added Bitanga.
Although the menu is set there is a choice of main course, either fish or capon, “Magister Illyrio’s Dubious Mushrooms, or wrapped sea bass with zucchini. And the chicken dish is just as fancily named, Relish of Carrots, Raisins, and bits of Lime and Orange, to be served upon capon. Both absolutely delicious.
And the Game of Thrones theme continues with the dessert, Honeycakes with Sherbet, with the description, “the sweet cakes had been soaked with honey, rich and heavy on the tongue.” Again spectacular, very yummy!
Sitting with a view of the Walk of Shame whilst enjoying rustic cuisine served in earthenware bowls, how much more of a Dubrovnik Game of Thrones experience could you ask for? This special menu is only available at lunch time, between 12.00 and 16.00, at the Kopun Restaurant.
