Meteoalarm, a site that is alerting Dubrovnik for extreme weather, has painted Dubrovnik with red color this Monday, sending a warning rain, wind and thunderstorms.
According to the website, heavy reain is expected, especially during the morning, with a rainfall of 70-110 mm.
-Strong flooding is expected in a large area. Properties will be flooded, lives will be at considerable risk, and evacuations are possible. Major traffic interruptions are likely, along with power outages, communication network failures and water supply interruptions. Difficult driving conditions caused by reduced visibility and wet and slippery roads – it's stated at the Meteoalarm.
Severe thundershowers or thunderstorm is expected too, with interruptions in outdoor activities and traffic. Strong and stormy SE wind will blow and Meteoalarm warns about uprooted trees, broken branches and flying debris.
At the end of September, there were 1.43 million employed persons in Croatia, which is 0.9 percent or 12.911 less than at the end of August, while the unemployment rate fell to a new record low - 8.4 percent, according to data from the Central Bureau of Statistics.
According to the newest report, released on Thursday, at the end of September there were 1,212 million people employed in legal entities, 3,332 people or 0.3 percent less than at the end of August.
According to the activities, the greatest decrease in the number of employees in September compared to August happened in tourism and catering by one percent, to 84.763 persons, followed by health and social care activities with a fall of 0.8 percent to 87.409 employees. To compare, there was an increase of number of employees in legal entities in other service sectors by 0.6 percent to 17,813, and in water supply, sewage,waste management and remediation activities by 0.5 percent to 24,463 persons.
According to the data, trades and freelancers at the end of September had 199,493 employees, which is 9,578 or 4.6 percent less than at the end of the eighth month. Also, the number of employed insured farmers decreased by 0.1 percent, there were 19,492, which is 10 persons less than at the end of August.
Also, there were 130,577 unemployed in the register at the end of September, which is 3,534 less than a month earlier. Thus, for the eighth consecutive month, the declining unemployment rate continued to drop and reached a new record low - from 8.5 percent in August to 8.4 percent in September.
The FlyDubai started this year on the new Dubrovnik-Dubai route with four flights per week. In the summer flight season 2019 there’s a reduction in traffic on this new line – Avioradar reports.
Instead of this year's four flights a week, for the next year only two flights per week are planned, on Thursdays and Sundays. In addition, the line will start fly as late as June 2nd or month and a half later than this year.
This line is in code-share cooperation with the Emirates, who also sell tickets on this line under its brands name.
Young Croatian tennis player Borna Coric is making Croatia proud at the tennis court but also on the social media. This 21-year-old raising star didn't let fame get to his head, even though he's really successful, and now has proven it on Twitter.

What a great gesture!
After numerous days full of sunshine, it seems that it's now time for autumn rain. Thursday and Friday should still be sunny and pleasant, however the weekend brings a change – according to the weather report of the Croatian famous meteorologist Zoran Vakula.
A lot of rain is expected on the Adriatic, with frequent heavy rainfall followed by thunder, especially from Saturday to Monday. There’s even a chance of record amounts of rain for October. In addition to rain, strong and stormy south winds are expected too.
However, that doesn't mean that it will be colder, quite the contrary. Above-average heat in the next few days will further increase in most of Croatia, making this October even more closer to the hottest in the history of measurement.
Janica Kostelic, former professional skier and one of the most succesful skiers of all time, will become a mother for the first time at the age of 37. Janica, who is now the State Secretary for Science, Education and Sports shared the news with press and caused the buzz all over the country! She'll become a mother of the baby boy Oskar and as she said – it doesn't matter if he'll be into sports or politics.
Croatian ''Snow Queen'' didn't want to say who's the father, but has shown up with a engangament ring, so the wedding can be expected soon. She's supposed to give birth around her birthday – which is the most beautiful present ever – in January. Since she's known as the ''Snow Queen'', there have been some jokes around the country that now Croatia expects a royal baby too.
For those who don't know (and we doubt that there's anybody who doesn't), Janica Kostelic a former World Cup alpine ski racer and four-time Olympic gold medalist from Croatia. In addition to the Olympics, she has won five gold medals at the World Championships. In World Cup competition, she has won thirty individual races, three overall titles, three slalom titles, and four (unofficial) combined titles. Kostelic's accomplishments in professional skiing have led some commentators, writers, and fellow ski racers to regard her as the greatest female ski racer of all time.
And now she's up for another challenge – being a mother. Congratulations!
International Association of Athletics Federations (IAAF) opened the voting process for the 2018 World Athletes of the Year ahead of the IAAF Athletics Awards 2018 in Monaco on Tuesday 4th of December and Croatian ''discus queen'' Sandra Perkovic is one of them!
-The IAAF is pleased to confirm a list of 10 nominees for Female World Athlete of the Year who were selected by an international panel of athletics experts, comprising representatives from all six continental areas of the IAAF – it's published on their official website.
They state that Sandra Perkovic is nominated because she's the winner of 11 out of 13 contests at discus throw, including the European title for a record fifth time and also
had the seven longest throws of the year.
A three-way voting process will determine the finalists. The IAAF Council and the IAAF Family will cast their votes by email, while fans can vote online via the IAAF's social media platforms. Individual graphics for each nominee will be posted on Facebook, Twitter and Instagram this week; a 'like' on Facebook and Instagram or a retweet on Twitter will count as one vote.
The IAAF Council’s vote will count for 50% of the result, while the IAAF Family’s votes and the public votes will each count for 25% of the final result.
Voting for the Female World Athlete of the Year closes on 12 November. At the conclusion of the voting process, five men and five women finalists will be announced by the IAAF.
The male and female World Athletes of the Year will be announced live on stage at the IAAF Athletics Awards 2018.

The Irish national airline Aer Lingus in the summer of 2019 will boost the Split-Dublin line. This year it was flying on Tuesdays, Thursdays and Saturdays and in 2019 there will be additional, fourth flight every week, on Sundays. The line begins with traffic on May 16th 2019, with all four flights per week – Avioradar reports.
At the same time, the other two lines will have a boost during the off-season. Although the Dubrovnik-Dublin line will start flying three weeks later compared to this year - on April 12th, 2019, there will be five flights per week instead of four flights. Every-day flights will begin on May 16th or two weeks earlier than this year. On the Pula - Dublin line, the seasonal boost from three to four flights a week will begin a month earlier, or June 7th 2019.
