An exhibition by Josip Mijic entitled "Life in a Box" will be opened at the Dulcic Masle Pulitika Gallery on Thursday, November 21st, at 7 pm.
Exhibition curator, art historian Natasa Lah wrote in the exhibition catalog about the artist's work:
-These images, as earth plates with surfaces of different textures, release the creative impulse of the subconscious, but not like the early modern abstractists who chanted its spontaneity, but quite the opposite: recreating the inhibitory limitation of historical language, which, instead of symbolic power, produces the palimpsest concealment of impossible breakthroughs (to the light of an innocent morning, to ordinary human memory). The iconoclastic grip on the face of the world is interesting, which again vividly demonstrates the iconoclastic nature of a world in which everything is an image, so crazy and obsessive, that all its image is extinguished.
Josip Mijic was born on April 11th, 1975 in Travnik. So far, he has had 29 solo exhibitions and has participated in more than 190 group exhibitions.
The exhibition stays open until January 19th, 2020.
