The big day has come! The jubilee, 70th Dubrovnik Summer Festival, will open tonight by the raising of the Libertas flag in front of church of Saint Blaise at 9 pm. The festival will last from July 10th to August 25th and will take place on about thirty scenic and ambience locations of the city of Dubrovnik.
The opening of the 70th Dubrovnik Summer Festival will be done by the script of the Artistic Director Dora Ruzdjak Podolski, who is also directing it with her Assistant Director Sasa Bozic under the motto ‘’Dubrovnik sails’’.
The ceremony will be enriched by the Orchestra of the National Opera of the Lower Saxony from Hannover, the Ivan Goran Kovacic Academy Choir, the Mixed Choir Libertas and the Dubrovnik Chamber Choir conducted by maestro Ivan Repusic, joined with the Festival Drama Ensemble, the Folklore Ensemble Lindo, the students of the Academy of Dramatic Arts in Zagreb and the children and citizens of Dubrovnik.
The end of the ceremony will be marked with the fireworks whose start is expected to be around 10 pm.
In the 47 day of the upcoming festival season, the Dubrovnik Summer Festival will present over 80 dramatic, musical, ballet, film, folk and other performances to numerous domestic and international audiences. The program brings together the best Croatian artists and the top performances of foreign artists, and the musical program of the Festival will be started on the 11th of July with a great gala concert in front of the church of St. Blaise.
Opening ceremony traditionally was supposed to be seen on the general rehearsal last night, but it was sadly canceled due to bad weather. Hopefully the weather will improve until the ceremony tonight.
