With the lowering of the Libertas flag the 69th Dubrovnik Summer Festival ended last night with a gala concert in the heart of the Old City. The popular American organist, Cameron Carpenter, performed with the Croatian Radio Television Symphony Orchestra directed by Italian conductor Daniele Rustioni in front of the St. Blaise Church.
From the 10th of July until the 25th of August the 69th Dubrovnik Summer Festival has entertained an international audience at 20 venues with around 2,000 artists from all over the world. 80 drama, music, dance, folklore and other programs have delighted an estimated audience of 60,000.
And as the Libertas flag was slowly lowered the traditional melody of Sorkočević’s most famous symphony echoed around the stone facades of the ancient city, it has been a summer and a festival to remember.
