"Maritime Chests" is the name of the latest exhibition from Dubrovnik Museums which opened last night in the Rupe museum. The author of the exhibition is Ljerka Dunatov and several curators of the Dubrovnik Museums assisted.
These maritime chests, that are usually kept in the archive of the Maritime Museum, are classic examples of various chests used for transporting items on-board ships. The oldest medieval chests are from the 12th century and there are examples of wicker baskets, chest of drawers and decorative chests.
The exhibition aims to show a part of the untouched funds of the Maritime Museum and to familiarize the general public with the way of making, decorating and using these naval chests.
