As part of the 30th Educational Museum Action (EMA), which this year is held under the theme “Language,” the Dubrovnik Museums organized a creative ceramics workshop for adults entitled “Arme” on Tuesday, April 29, 2025, at the Ethnographic Museum in the “Rupe” granary.
The aim of the workshop was to present part of the permanent exhibition of the Ethnographic Museum dedicated to fishing in an engaging and interactive way.
Through verses from the Dubrovnik Museums’ educational publication “Nets set sail into verse, then caught a fish!” by authors Aleksandra Piteša and Dr. Bruno Bijađija, with illustrations by Iva Burić, the fishermen’s language and the stories that carry the secrets of life at sea were brought to life.
The practical part of the workshop, led by M.A. in Conservation and Restoration Anamarija Bezek, a longtime collaborator of the Dubrovnik Museums, allowed participants to create unique pieces inspired by the sea—fish and boats. Through this creative work, the crafted items reflected a fusion of art, tradition, and maritime heritage.
