On Tuesday, August 29th, as part of the Dubrovnik in Late Summer Festival, a concert entitled 'Tango the Night' will be presented by the Brass & Percussion septet of the Dubrovnik Symphony Orchestra (DSO) and cellist Vid Veljak. The event will take place at the Rector's Palace and will commence at 9:00 PM.
Arranged by Damir Butigan, the program draws inspiration from tango music rooted in Argentina. While predominantly based on the works of Astor Piazzolla, the program also features pieces not necessarily in the tango style but belonging to the Argentine cultural heritage. Piazzolla's compositions will be juxtaposed with certain Croatian tangos from the first half and mid-20th century, reflecting contemporary global trends of that time.
On the evening, authentic Argentine music will meet its reflection in the popular music of Croatia at that time.
