A multimedia exhibition entitled “Breathe" by Kristina Kojan Goluža will open on Saturday, October 2 in the Lazareti complex, just outside the Dubrovnik City Walls, starting at 7:00pm.
The artist Kristina Kojan Goluža will highlight her memories from her home in Konavle, which was burned in the Homeland War, and which is no longer family-owned after the end of the war due to the division of property.
The author uses photographs and slides to partially reconstruct the ambience of the old house, this time in a different place - in Lazareti. Photographs of memories from family albums contrast with photographs of the house today, photographs depicting decay, trauma, and abandonment. The artistic concept thus set out seeks to problematize the relationship of a positive emotional relation to a seemingly repulsive, traumatized physical space.
The multimedia work "Breathe" is an integral part of the program by which the City of Dubrovnik is celebrating the 30th anniversary of the heroic defence of the City.
The program will take place from October 1 to December 6, and will contain a series of special events, which will thematically refer to the selfless and brave sacrifice of Croatian veterans and civilians.
The work can be viewed on weekdays from 9:00 am to 4:00 pm, and on Saturdays from 9:00 am to 1:00 pm. Admission is free of charge.
