Epiphany in Croatia and a public holiday

Written by  Jan 06, 2019

The 6th of January is a public holiday throughout Croatia. The Epiphany is a public holiday. It is a day off for the general population, and schools and most businesses are closed. However, this year as it has fallen on a Sunday some shops may choose to follow Sunday opening hours and some will close altogether.

Many Christians around the world annually celebrate Epiphany on January 6. It is a public holiday in many countries and marks two events in Jesus Christ’s life, according to the Christian Bible. The first event was when the three wise men, or kings, visited infant Jesus. The second event was when St John the Baptist baptized Jesus.
