Opened just a couple of years ago the Academia centre in Dubrovnik has quickly found itself as the “in place” for accommodation at reasonable prices. The new modern centre has everything guests require for an enjoyable stay in the south of Croatia, from spacious rooms, parking and a restaurant. And it is exactly that restaurant that has caught our attention.
You could presume that in such a centre that the food would be, well basic, you’d be wrong, very wrong. Not only is it excellent quality but to say it is reasonable would be an understatement.
Let’s start at the very beginning of the day, breakfast, to give you an idea. The breakfast costs 56 Kuna (probably one of the best values for money in the city) and the choice is extraordinary. Cereals, omelettes, cold cuts, yogurts, toast, croissants, the breakfast list goes on and on. If you want to start your day on the right food and not break the bank, then this should be your first choice. It gets better. When you see the a la carte menu for lunch.
Firstly, let’s start with the “daily menu.” A starter, main course and dessert all for 89 or 99 Kuna! Wow! Then the main menu where you have main course starting for only 8 Euro and starters starting at only 6 Euros. The key is value for money. How about a prawn and zucchini risotto for 66 Kuna, or a traditional Dubrovnik pasta with beef for only 66 Kuna?
And for those with a sweet tooth they have a great apple strudel with cherries and ice-cream for only 20 Kuna, or dive into one of the cakes of the day for a mere 16 Kuna, or just over 2 Euros. The choices are as long as your arm, and you’ll never be worried that a huge bill will land on your table at the end. We can’t recommend this highly enough.
A great location, great food and very friendly service. But don’t take our word for it, visit Academia and find out for yourselves.
